Ōtautahi Welcoming Dinner

Join us for a meal to manaaki/welcome some of our newest residents, including former refugees, who now call Ōtautahi home.

A chance to make connections and meet others over a delicious meal and live performance of traditional music.

Learn about the journeys of others, celebrate the diversity of our city.

Stay in touch musicians to be announced in April.

Tickets: $28 for dinner, dessert and drink. Children’s ticket $15. Price contributes towards free meals for our former refugee diners.

Welcoming Dinners are a collaboration with Purapura Whetu Pōwhiri, the Multicultural Recreation and Community Centre and the Christchurch City Council Welcoming Communities.

    • Afghan bolani - a traditional fried flatbread stuffed with spring onion, spices and potato. Contains gluten. Vegan.

    • Nepali momos - vegetable dumplings with fresh herbs and ginger. Served with sesame and tomato sauce. Contain gluten. Vegan.

    • Eritrean minchet roll - Injera (sourdough bread) rolled with minchet (spiced minced beef stew) and topped with salad. Halal beef and gluten-free.

    • Eritrean ades roll - Injera (sourdough bread) rolled with ades (spiced lentils) and topped with salad. Vegan and gluten-free.
